Western New England University was founded in 1919, originally as a division of Northeastern University.  In 1951, the College obtained a charter, and the Springfield Division of Northeastern University was renamed Western New England College.  In 2011, the College was changed to University status and became Western New England University.

The Western New England University Archives holds the non-current records of the University.  Housed in the University’s D’Amour Library, the Archives seeks to collect, preserve, and make available records of enduring historical value to the University.
